About Us

The Sutherland Shire Cycling Club has existed in its present format for over 40 years and many years prior to this as Sutherland Districts and Amateur Cycling Club if you have information on the history please forward it to us so we can publish it here.

The Sutherland Club has its own clubhouse located at Waratah Park, Sutherland adjacent to the criterium circuits and holds club meetings (and the AGM) there.

The circuit is open to the public when not being used for racing and training.

Thanks to a Government Grant, the hardwork of the clubs members and friends and the Sutherland Shire Council, Track lighting was installed in 1993 which allows use of the number 2 circuit during the winter months.

The club normally races on Saturday afternoons throughout the Winter and on Friday Nights during the Summer seasons.

Club championships and club pointscores are conducted for all grades with trophies for each division.  Perpetual trophies are competed for and a special multi-stage one day tour is held.

The Club Presentation evening is held each year where all trophies are presented.

The Mayor of the Sutherland Shire and our local State and Federal Members of Parliament are the Patrons of the club and are nominated each year.

There are three circuits at Waratah Park;-

Number 1 circuit - 350m long, recreational use only
Number 2 circuit - 960m long, with a slight climb onto the finishing straight
Number 3 circuit - 1500m long, with a small climb onto the finishing straight
