Proposed Itinerary
Wed 5th: Drive down to Jindabyne Thurs 6th: Jindabyne - Dead Horse Gap - Jindabyne - Charlottes Pass - Jindabyne This is a steady ride with plenty of gradual climbing and descending. Total ride distance is about 160 km, but because the route is out and back and out and back you can ride whatever distance you're comfortable with. Two groups - the first departing at 8:45 am and the second at 9 am. Both groups will hook up for lunch in Jindabyne at the half way mark. Pace is easy to medium with the climbs giving you plenty of opportunity to elevate your heart rate. Friday 7th: Berridale - Adaminaby - Sawyers Hut - Adaminaby - Berridale Another long steady ride over undulating terrain. Total ride distance is 170 km, but again it is out and back so you can ride whatever distance you're comfortable with. Drive (or ride if you need more K’s) from Jindabyne to Berridale (25 minutes) for a 9am start. A single bunch departs from Berridale at an easy pace and invades the cafe at Adaminaby (about the 50km mark). After a bite to eat it's out over the undulating terrain towards Sawyers Hut at a steady pace. Marvel at the grandeur of Sawyers Hut and then return to Adaminaby for some more grub, with a bit of swapping off on the downhill run into town. After another break it's up the long drag to the top of the Great Dividing Range and then a fast run down to Berridale, with a bit of swapping off and a few attacks if you're up to it. Saturday 8th : Rest day Recover from the big night on Friday night, get out for a little pedal for a couple of hours then spend the day with a big cafe breakfast. Sunday 9th: Jindabyne - Charlottes Pass - Jindabyne A long way up and then a long way down. Total ride distance is 80 km. and is normally a handicap. Enjoy the long descent back to town. Hook up for lunch and then drive safely home! What to bring:
Sunscreen Clothing for all climates! It can get cold so make sure you bring arm warmers, gloves, knee warmers, booties, Jacket etc.. Spare tube, tyres or wheels, oil Food for brekky, snacks and lunch. There are a couple of supermarkets in town if you want to stock up when you get there. The lodges have a kitchen so you can self cater dinner if you want to, but most people will hit one of the restaurants on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Fresh legs Beer goggles Washing Powder Sense of humour.
Yes there will be following vehicles in support (thanks Bob and Alex)
