Next off were the Masters 2-4, Team 2 comprised of Craig Hawkins, Martin Hoyle, Andrew Herlihen and John Peters who finished in 20th spot despite having to push the president up all the hills. Team 1 of Col Young, Tony Unicomb, Wayne Druery and Ian Bradford finshed in 5th place.
The Elite Men’s Team of Paul O’Neil, Darren Cash, Daniel Brickell and what the f^## is a TTT MTB’r Perren Delacour came home with a Bronze medal with a stirling ride considering they were up against the full time professional teams of Caravello and Clarence St Cyclery who took out the Gold and Silver respectively.

Delacour Wins Season Opener ! (20th March 2004)
Mountain Biker Perren Delacour (Yeti-Sutherland) won the first race on the NSW Road calender the DGV-Summer Criterium after launching an attack on the last lap. Delacour was part of a 8 man break that escaped from the main bunch after 30 mins of racing and who eventually lapped the field. On the last lap Pezza opened up a small gap and then after the tight twisty turns showed his MTB skills by keeping the power down on on the slippery run in for the line.

NSW Club Teams Time Trial Championships (Calga 16th August 2003)
The Championships were held at Peats Ridge, Calga over the demanding hilly circuit (at least this year it was sunny and not too windy).
Sutherland had entered 8 teams in total with one Elite Ladies, One Masters 4+, 3 Masters 1-3, and 3 Elite Men Teams. Last year Sutherland took out a number of medals in the Masters Ladies and Mens categories but this year we were just out of the medals and so were relying on the last event of the day the premier Elite Mens category to take home a medal.
In 2002 Sutherland (with the team of Darren Cash, Geoff Cook, Paul O'Neill and Steve Williams) took the Gold medal and set the course record for the
86km event (set over 2 laps of 43km) in a time of 1 hour 57mins and were ready all set to better their time.....

On the saturday morning Darren Cash came down with the flu which meant 'promoting' one of the 2nd team members to the first team, Daniel Bricknell was selected and he was "very nervous" on being selected to ride in the premier squad.

As last years winners Sutherland were the last team to start with their main contenders ‘Hichinbrook’ starting 4 minutes ahead of them.

On the completion of the first lap Sutherland and Hinchinbrook still had their 4 riders and were neck and neck, the other teams were around two minutes adrift and most were teams were down to three men. At the 60km mark Sutherland had moved ahead of Hinchinbrook by 60 seconds and at the 70km
mark both teams 'dropped' their fourth rider in the charge for the line.
Sutherland continued to put time into the others by finishing over ninety seconds clear of second placed getters Hinchinbrook with St George in third.

Gold   Sutherland Shire CC  1:59:52
Silver   Hinchinbrook            2:01:35
Bronze St George                 2:03:56

A big thankyou to all the Riders (including the ones who could’nt make it on the day), everone who competed in the Sutherland Teams, Drivers, Mechanics, Coaches,Supporters and sponsors for making the day so successful.

2003 Australian Road and Time Trial Championships

In the demanding timetrial run over an undulating and windy 40km circuit Geoff Cook put in an awesome ride, he was the fastest NSW rider and finished 6th overall. Daniel Bricknell finished 35th overall.

The women's 102km Road Race saw Renee Fortunato pull up with a serious mechanical problem but with the help of a spectator (thank you Natalie Bates for the loan of your bike) she managed to catch the main bunch after chasing for a couple of laps and still managed to finish in 14th place

The Mens 180km Road Race saw Wayne Anderson, Daniel Bricknell, Geoff Cook and Steve Williams (2001 Australian Champion) mixing it up with a very classy field of Pro riders.
Steve made sure he was always up the road in the front group and with Wayne, Daniel and Cookie "assisting" in the main bunch the front group was rapidly gaining time over the rest of the field, The chasing bunch soon whittled down as the race progressed due to the high pace. Daniel and Cookie decided that with Steve now well up the road he could look after himself and they retired gracefully. With 3 laps to go a massive attack saw a shake up in the front group and with it Steve's hopes of a medal as O'Grady. Davis and Jonker went clear. Steve chased for a while but could not make any headway and eventually sat up and retired. Congratulations to Wayne Anderson for finishing 22nd.

Also a special thanks for the race support from George (Endeavour Cycles) Col Poulton and Harry Berkery
