Twilight Series

Thankyou for visiting the Sutherland Twilight Criterium Series Page
2008-2009.

The Sutherland Twilight Criterium Series is one of the most popular and highly contested race series in Australia.
A couple of years ago we saw the world champion Great Britain pursuit team (featuring Mark Cavendish, Simon Gerraint, Ed Clancey etc) mixing it up with‘ local internationals’ Matt White, Mark Renshaw, Chris Sutton and road sprint queen Rochelle Gilmore. So you know the competition is going to be tough.

Warren Scott from St George won the Twilight Criterium Cup last year and is keen to retain it this year.

This year we are running a 6 race series on the last friday of each month with additional prize money and vouchers for all grades and a  point score series for the ‘A’ Grade. The additional prizemoney and vouchers have been kindly provided by Endeavour Cycles of Gymea and Tradies.

Entry on the line closes 15 minutes before each event. All competitors must present their current ACF or UCI licence when signing on

How much is it?
Entry Fee is $10 for all divisions (Includes $1 NSWCF Track Levy)

Prizemoney
Sweepstake Prizemoney means the more riders the larger the payout.

What Grade am I in ?
Race grades are similar to Open events and if you have not raced before then start in ‘C’ grade. Normally after 3 wins or multiple placings you will be promoted, if you blitz the field you can often get an instant upgrade.

Are Refreshments available?
Yes, Soft Drinks and Sausage Sandwiches are available

I’m new to Cycle Racing how do I get started?
The races are classified as an “Open event” so you will need to purchase a FULL race licence (Ride- It or Non Competitive are not sufficient (see the
Membership page for more details). When you get your licence you will have to attend training sessions and be assessed by the SSCC Club Coach before you will be allowed to start. Depending on your level of fitness and application you could be racing within a week (athough when I started it took me 3 months before I finished a complete race!~)
