Sutherland Shire Cycling Club

Currently there are three Organisations for Cycle Racing in Australia

1. For Road and Track racing the Australian Cycling Federation (ACF or CA) is the national sporting organisation which operate through its state bodies. Sutherland Shire CC is affiliated through Cycling NSW (CNSW or NSWCF)
2. For Mountain Biking SSCC is affiliated with the national sporting organisation Mountain Biking Australia (MTBA)
3. Bicycle Motocross Australia (BMX Australia) is recognised by the Australian Sports Commission as the National Sporting Organisation for BMX racing within Australia.  SSCC is not currently affiliated to BMX Australia. What sort of licence do I need ?
I want to Race  on the Road - A Racing Licence
I just want to do time trials and train with the groups - A Sport Licence
I want to race MTB - An MTB race licence is required
I want to race MTB+ Road /Track - A Race Licence plus an MTB add on is required 
If you want to train with the bunches - A recreational licence for either Road or MTB respectively
.
If you intend to race then a Full race licence is required see the age categories below.  

Note:Both licences carry a basic third Party insurance and club membership.

Membership of the Sutherland Shire Cycling Club is included with your affiliation to the New South Wales and Australian Cycling Federation and runs for a calendar year for Road and Track or a rolling year for MTBA licences. Your membership includes Third Party Insurance whilst racing or training and is compulsory when participating in any of the club events.

New ACF members taking out a licence after the 1st of October are covered until the end of the following calender year.
6 month ACF licences are available from July each year but they are very expensive - almost the cost of a yearly licence !

2011 CA application forms are available from the clubhouse or from the SSCC Secretary and can be downloaded here.

Renewal of membership online for existing or lapsed members CA or CNSW members (you will need your licence # plus a bankcard,mastercard or visa credit card) available from September

New members can now also join online and covers the remainder of 2010 and the full 2011 year

MTBA add on for CA members at just $45 is now available here you must have 3 months remaining on your licence.

If you are posting the completed form please include a cheque made payable to “Sutherland Shire Cycling Club” using the fee structure below. Your form will be validated and returned to you, which can then be used to race with until your licence is sent out by Cycling Australia.

Please note that cycling age categories now change on October 1st each year.

If you are already a member of a cycling club and wish to transfer to the Sutherland Shire Cycling Club you will need to get a clearance letter from your old club and include it with the membership application Clearance Forms are available on the NSW Web Site or from the clubhouse or secretary.

Note: A transfer fee of $100 applies if you want to change clubs during the year, there is no fee incurred when renewing your yearly membership with a new club.

Fees are inclusive of Club Fees, GST and insurance premium.
No six (6) month licenses will be issued to Non Competitive riders.

Club Colours
In order to compete in Open Events you must wear the SSCC outfit or if you are new to the club or not yet in possession of a SSCC strip then you may compete in a plain (no advertising) outfit.
The traditional club colours are green and gold plus logos from a number of Sponsors are the registered strip.

We expect that Club Members respect the club sponsorship but recognise that Individuals may seek to ride in a different outfit to the club strip if they have their own sponsors.

Applications for Group or Individual Sponsorship should be submitted and ratified at the monthly meeting.

Please note the following CNSW regulations:-
For State Team Championship events Club Colours must be worn
Sponsored colours shall bear the Clubs name (Sutherland Shire Cycling Club) or abbreviated version (SSCC) on the left breast.

Categories (by Age)

Your year of birth @ Oct 31st determines which type of licence you may purchase.

You may only hold one category of licence altough as an Elite you may also compete in Masters Championships in your respective age category.
