Your support is needed to prevent the Cycling Track at Waratah Park - Sutherland from being closed down.

If you've been up to Waratah Park recently you may have noticed all the surveyor marks.........

Sutherland Council are proposing to spend $3 000 000 on the expansion of the AFL ground and the incorporation of Synthetic playing surfaces at Lincoln Oval (the playing field within Track 2).

Currently the Oval is used primarily by Cricket in the Summer months and by AFL in the Winter months with many secondary users such as School and ad hoc groups using the Oval for other sports and activities plus the general public.

It has been proposed by Council to install Synthetic Turf at the Oval to provide an all weather surface in order to provide some relief for the existing Soccer fields located throughout the Sutherland Shire who may be impacted by matches and training lost due to Wet weather days.

Sutherland Council has already surveyed the Oval and proposes to install either one or two soccer fields at the Oval plus retain the existing AFL and Cricket Pitches.  Different coloured line markings will be used to delineate the different sports.

Winter Racing
With the change to Winter (finally arrived) we start road racing on Saturday morning / afternoons. See the race program or the event Calendar for whats on.

Winter Training
Track 2 at Waratah Park is lit on Tuesday and Thursday Evenings for SSCC riders between 5.30pm and 7.30pm

Gaye Lynn - Smashes World Record  !
Well done Gaye who set a new  World Best Time of 2:47.719 in the WMAS8 2000m Individual Pursuit (previously set by Liz Randall at the Masters World Cup in Manchester in 2011)  at the Dunc Gray Velodrome at the NSW Stae Championships last weekend. The result has to be ratified by the UCI before it's official.

Sid Taberley - Podium MTB XC Nationals
Well done to Sid who was third at the Australian Mountain Bike National Championships XC held at Canberra's Stromlo Forest Park (Feb 23).
Other SSCC riders competing in the Championships for the first time in the Junior U15's  Ben Metcalfe 8th & Kye Fisher 20th, U/19's Harrison Wiles 13th.
