Welcome to Sutherland Shire Cycling Club

SSCC is a place for all riders – from recreational through to racing – across road, track and mountain. Our club is based at Waratah Oval in Rawson Avenue, Sutherland. This location provides riders with a variety of options right on the doorstep. Circling the club house is a custom road cycling track available for social and training rides, as well as official weekly club racing year-round.

Behind the club house is a short purpose-built mountain bike track, which is used to host our monthly Short Track MTB racing, and is the perfect place to introduce kids to mountain biking. And of course, just across the road we have access to the vast network of trails on offer in the Royal National Park. Our club members come from all walks of life, are of all ages and abilities, who share a love of riding. We look forward to welcoming you at a SSCC event soon.

A call out to all those mtbers, especially their parents!!

Our mountain bike club is expanding at a rapid rate, and we'd like to continue growing and creating opportunities for our up and coming juniors especially.
To do this we need more help! Specifically coaches!!
If you've ever thought about getting involved with our MTB racing and rides now's the time!

Saturday, Feb 3rd there will be a Mountain Bike Australia - MTBA coaching course running at our very own track. We'd like to fill a few spots with Sutherland members before it sells out.
The club will be looking to subsidise the cost for those willing to participate.
If this even remotely sounds like a wonderful and motivating idea to you, please email Rebecca Randazzo at rebecca@rideability.com.au to let us know you're interested.

The success of our MTB club is because of our volunteers, the more people involved the easier it will be to keep it running for years to come!

Huge weekend of XC racing this weekend at the MTBA Nationals XCO rounds 1&2!
We had a fantastic representation of SSCC members with Maya Taylor, Jenna Metcalfe, Oliver Ludlam, Thomas Ludlum, Ben Metcalfe, Tristan Ward, Rebecca Randazzo and Emily 'Hanekroof' lining up.
The course was fast with some long climbs and tough pinches. A few tricky roll downs and chattering descents kept it interesting (especially when you forget when the drops are coming!). To see everyone race so well on the same course as current Oceania and World champions says alot about the challenge they set themselves!
Most of our Juniors were having their first crack at a national level race and they certainly made the club proud and learnt a TON! (Same goes for a few of the seniors!), We look forward to seeing them put everything they learnt this round to use at their next race.
A big shout out to support crew Taylor and Chris Metcalfe, the Ludlams and our fellow Southern Area peeps the Pollock family, such a great cycling community to be a part of!

Results for rounds 1&2 as follows...
Maya Taylor, U15 women 4th & 5th
Jenna Metcalfe, U17 women 7th & 6th
Oliver Ludlam, U15 Men 9th & 9th
Thomas Ludlum, 13th & 12th
Harry Watson U19 28th
Ben Metcalfe, U19 Men 5th & 4th
Tristan Ward, Elite Men 9th
Rebecca Randazz M3 Women, 2nd & 2nd
Emily Hanekroot elite women 8th , 8th

(More shots of drop offs and podiums to come!)
